The farmer tells me that it is not important that I correctly label my pictures of these bridges because I am not writing a book or publishing them. Little did he know that I had planned to put them on my blog. I labeled these two pics as the Spade Farm bridge, but now that I look at them, they don't look like the same bridge at all. Who knows which bridge is the "true" Spade Farm Bridge and who knows what the other bridge's name is. If anyone know, please let me know.
In looking at these pictures, it doesn't look like we got to see foliage color. There is a hint that there was some beautiful leaves by looking at the ground.
This was a particularly challenging picture. There were ugly wires that crossed this photo that had to be photoshopped out. The sky wasn't as dramatic either. Over all I think it turned out pretty good. In the second picture, it was a good idea, but I didn't do a very good job editing. I used the 'ol "smart filter" trick so that I could get the right exposure for the inside of the bridge and get the right exposure for the scene outside of the bridge. I may do a "do-over" and get rid if the unsightly light areas around the opening.
It is amazing that these bridges are still standing. Some have had more work done than others to preserve them. Some have even been moved.
The farmer and I took a vacation to Vermont to view the fall colors. We were not disappointed even though we may have been a little late for "peak". We made a pilgramage to as many covered bridges as light would allow us. The weather was not as cooperative as I would have liked. We saw a lot of grey skies. This is Holmes Bridge. After a while, they all begin to look the same. It was fun discovering that little tid-bit of information. We stayed in the Wayburry Inn. Remember that was the inn that Bob Newhart ran on his show that featured the brother Darryl and his other brother Darryl. The accomodations were nice but I was a little bit disappointed because I expected it to look like the tv show. It must have been remodeled, because it didn't look at all like I remembered from the show. It was nice just the same.
