Zion in February

On the River Walk trail to the narrows about sunset time.
Sunrise: At the Pine Creek bridge down near the river.

Sunset: On the bridge at the turnoff to go to the lodge.

Zion is a wonderful place any time of year. I bought the newsletter from Photograph America and followed the suggestions for Sunrise and Sunset locations. Apparently I wasn't the only one that got the memo because there were others who were flocking to these locations at this particular time of day. While there, we hiked some and photographed some as you will see. I had fun editing them in Photoshop CS3 while there and when I got back. I tried a new technique that requires exposing for different areas in the same photo. For example I exposed for the sky and the rock and the tree. Then I merged them with HDR (High Dynamic Range) so that the newly created photo doesn't have blown out sky or black foreground. It was exciting. I am not very good at it but I enjoyed myself. I watched a couple videos on You Tube to see how other did it. Pretty fun.
